Biography:

Gugu Mbatha-Raw was born on June 30, 1983 in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. She attended The Henry Box School and later trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2001.

She made her acting debut playing Cleopatra in the production of Anthony and Cleopatra at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, and had her breakthrough as Juliet Capulet in Romeo and Juliet.

She has also made television appearances in such shows as Bad Girls, Spooks, Doctor Who and Touch, among others. Her film roles include Talia in Larry Crowne and Viola in Odd Thomas.
