Laura Vandervoort

Television star Laura Vandervoort first appeared on the Canadian program Goosebumps. She went on to have guest roles on such shows as Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Mutant X. She ultimately landed her first starring role on the small screen. This was as Sadie Harrison on the Canadian show Instant Star. It aired on television from 2004 to 2008. Her role on the show made her more famous. This led her to play Kara Zor-El on the American series Smallville. She was part of the show’s main cast on its 7th season. Simultaneously, she joined the main cast of the short-lived program V. Continuing her TV career, she played Elena Michaels on the Canadian series Bitten.

The Bitten actress manages to stay svelte through a healthy lifestyle. She is an avid believer of the importance of proper nutrition and regular workout as part of a well living. She is active when it comes to her physical exertions. This allows her to not only stay slim, but also to stay strong and agile. In an interview, the actress shared her fitness secrets:

“In terms of working out, I just try to do something physical every day. I mix it up, I do spinning, hot yoga. I just got out of a Pilates Plus class right now, which is great. It’s on a reformer and it’s challenging and it sort of shocks your body into doing something different and moving in a different way, using your own resistance. To get in shape for Elena, I worked out with a trainer and we used a lot of the resistance bands and not weights, and did a lot of cardiovascular, getting your heart rate up and then down. Hiking, that sort of thing. This season, I wanted to be a little more of a fighting machine.”
