Jeremy Irons is an English actor whose career started on stage in the 1960s. His first notable film role came in 1981 with The French Lieutenant’s Woman. For this, he got a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor. After starring in the films Moonlighting, Betrayal, and The Mission, he came to wider prominence for his performance in 1988’s Dead Ringers. In 1990, he portrayed Claus von Bülow in Reversal of Fortune, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
Later in the 1990s, he starred in the films Kafka, The House of the Spirits, M. Butterfly, The Lion King, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Lolita, and The Man in the Iron Mask. The following decade, Irons starred in Dungeons & Dragons, The Merchant of Venice, Being Julia, Kingdom of Heaven, Eragon, and Appaloosa. More recently, he starred in Assassin’s Creed, Justice League, and Red Sparrow. He currently stars as Adrian Veidt in HBO’s Watchmen.
