Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is an American actor. In 2012, he made his acting debut in the short film Crescendo, which he also co-produced. Later in 2016, he had his first starring role on TV, playing Clarence “Cadillac” Caldwell in The Get Down. The following year, he had notable performances in the films The Vanishing of Sidney Hall, Baywatch, and The Greatest Showman. After starring in the movies First Match and Boundaries, he came to mainstream attention for his portrayal of David Kane / Black Manta in Aquaman. He next starred as Russel Thomas / Weyland in the horror film Us. The actor earned acclaim when he starred in the HBO series Watchmen, a role that won him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. He also starred as Bobby Seale in the 2020 film The Trial of the Chicago 7. He plays the lead in the upcoming film Candyman.
