After appearing in the pilot episode of Being Mary Jane, she starred as Candace Young in the TV series The Haves and the Have Nots. She has been starring on the said show since 2013. The actress was also praised for her portrayal of Michelle Obama in the biographical film Southside with You. Also, she recently starred as Maddie Wachowski in Sonic the Hedgehog.
Tika Sumpter has been active almost all her life. As a young girl, she attended dance classes and then competitive cheerleading later. Recently, though, she tried something else: Pure Barre, which for her was the hardest workout she’s done. Aside from taking Pure Barre classes twice or thrice per week, she also stays in top shape by having Zumba sessions and exercising with a trainer.
