On television, she appeared in several episodes of The Sarah Silverman Program. She next had a recurring character as Rhoda in the TV series In the Motherhood. She went on to play the part of Barb in Transparent. From 2015 to 2017, she starred in the comedy series One Mississippi, which she also created, wrote, directed, and produced. Notara came to mainstream recently for starring as Marianne Peters in the Netflix movie Army of the Dead.
