Hollywood actress Jennifer Jason Leigh started her career during her teens in the ’70s. Her major break came in the 1980s after starring in the film Fast Times at Ridgemont High. She continued her career in the ’90s, gaining acclaim for her works in the movies Miami Blues, Last Exit to Brooklyn, and Backdraft. She also gained mainstream fame for starring in Single White Female. She went on to receive her first Golden Globe Best Actress nomination for her work in Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle. Other notable roles were in Road to Perdition and Margot at the Wedding. She then delivered a noteworthy performance in The Hateful Eight. She’s recently starred in the horror movie Amityville: The Awakening. On television, she had notable roles on Weeds, Revenge, and Twin Peaks.
The 55-year-old actress is no stranger to changing her physical appearance for film roles. One example is her role as Sadie Flood in Georgia. For her character as a heroin addict, she lost weight so she would only weigh 90 pounds. She revealed: “Mostly, heroin addicts don’t eat. So I had a very specific diet – two poached eggs on toast every morning. Salad with a baked potato with butter and sour cream, and dinner was plain yoghurt and string cheese. Once in a while I would have a cheeseburger and fries. And that’s it. I was emaciated.”
When asked about this experience, she got candid and said: “It’s not like some magical or weird thing. I think they’re just more fun to act. It’s like if you could eat something incredibly delicious or something that’s just good for you and bland, what would you choose? And neither one’s going to hurt you. Neither one’s going to make you fat. But one’s going to be an incredible experience, and one’s just going to put food in your stomach. That’s a really bad analogy.”
