David Strathairn is an American actor. He first debuted in the 1980 film Return of the Secaucus 7. He next had roles in the films Lovesick, Silkwood, and Iceman. On TV, he starred as Moss Goodman in The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd. The following decade, he had performances in the movies City of Hope, Big Girls Don’t Cry… They Get Even, Passion Fish, The Firm, and L.A. Confidential.

His portrayal of Edward R. Murrow in the 2005 film Good Night, and Good Luck earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He next starred in We Are Marshall, The Bourne Ultimatum, and The Spiderwick Chronicles, among others. He next portrayed Dr. Carlock in the TV movie Temple Grandin. He won a Primetime Emmy Award for his work here. In 2012, he portrayed William Seward in Lincoln. His latest TV roles were as “Black Jack” Foley in Billions and Klaes Ashford in The Expanse.
