Biography:

David Tennant was born on 18 April 1971 in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland. He started acting while he was in school. Being a fan of Doctor Who, he was inspired to become an actor. He later became the youngest student at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. In 1988, he made his screen debut on the TV series Dramarama. In 1996, he made his film debut in Jude.

He spent the 1990s making guest appearances on television. He also appeared in some films. In the 2010s, he gained mainstream fame for his role as the Doctor in Doctor Who. He later portrayed Prince Hamlet in television movie Hamlet. More recently, he became known for playing the villain Kevin Thompson / Kilgrave in Netflix’s Jessica Jones. In the movies, he played Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He will portray John Knox in the upcoming film Mary Queen of Scots.
