Charli XCX was born on August 2, 1992 in Cambridge, United Kingdom. She was raised in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire. Her interest in songwriting began at age 14. She attended Bishop’s Stortford College, though she left school in favor of a recording career after signing a deal with IAMSOUND Records in 2010.

In 2012, she released her debut EP You’re the One. The following year, she released her debut album True Romance. As a songwriter, she gained recognition for her writing credit with Icona Pop’s single “I Love It”. She went on to achieve international fame for the Number 1 hit songs “Fancy” and “Boom Clap” in 2014.
