American actress Sonequa Martin-Green had her career beginnings in the mid-2000s. During her early years, she had roles in the films Not Quite Right, I-Can-D, and Blind Thoughts. Her first recurring role on the small screen was as Kanessa Jones in Army Wives. Her first significant role was as Courtney Wells in The Good Wife. In the 2010s, she became known for her role as Sasha Williams in The Walking Dead with her character dying in the seventh season. Simultaneously, she also appeared in the TV shows Once Upon a Time and New Girl. After The Walking Dead, she landed the lead role of Michael Burnham in the new series Star Trek: Discovery. She’s also had roles in the films Rivers Wash Over Me and Yelling to the Sky.

The 32-year-old actress tries her best to practice a healthy lifestyle. She already gets herself physically trained since it’s crucial for her role in The Walking Dead. Aside from this, she also makes efforts to follow clean eating habits. In an interview, she was noted for saying: “I do try to eat lean meats and veggies most of the time, and organic as much as possible. I stay away from dairy, gluten, and sugar as much as possible. I’m a work in progress.”

On the other hand, the actress admits that she still has cravings, which include fatty processed foods. She said: “I can’t get burgers and fries out of my mind! At this point I eat them maybe three times a month.” The celebrity also mentioned how important it is for her to stay healthy because her role in The Walking Dead requires her to. She stated: “This is the most strenuous show I’ve ever worked on, by far. If you’re not taking care of yourself, eating clean and staying hydrated, your body will fail you.”
