Marianne Jean-Baptiste is an English actress. She had her career beginnings in the early ’90s, appearing in the film Once Upon a Time. She also appeared in the movie London Kills Me. Her performance as Hortense Cumberbatch in the 1996 film Secrets & Lies gained her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She next starred in the movies Mr. Jealousy, How to Make the Cruelest Month, and A Murder of Crows. In 1999, she portrayed Doreen Lawrence in the miniseries The Murder of Stephen Lawrence. For this, she got a nomination for the Royal Television Society Award for Best Actor – Female. In the 2000s, she became known for her role as Vivian Johnson in the CBS show Without a Trace. In the 2010s, she played Sharon Bishop in Broadchurch and FBI Assistant Director Bethany Mayfair in Blindspot.
