Molly Parker was born on June 30, 1972 in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. From when she was three to 17 years old, she took ballet classes. By the time she was 14, she started performing in local theater. She further trained in acting at the Gastown Actors’ Studio in Vancouver. In 1991, she made her TV debut on the TV movie My Son Johnny. She had also appeared as a guest star on such shows as Neon Rider and Madison, among others.
In 1995, she made her film debut in the low-budget The Ranger, the Cook and a Hole in the Sky. She went on to appear in the films Wonderland, Sunshine, and The Intruder. Her first regular role on television was as Hope on Twitch City. From 2004 to 2006, she became known for playing Alma Garret on Deadwood. She next starred on the show Swingtown. In 2012, she starred as Abby McDeere on the TV series The Firm. She became more popular recently for playing Jackie Sharp on House of Cards. Her performance here earned her an Emmy nomination.
