Biography:

John Legend was born on December 28, 1978 in Springfield, Ohio, U.S.. He majored in English at the University of Pennsylvania. After finishing his degree in 1999, he started writing, recording, and producing his own music. During this time, he released two albums independently. He went on to release his debut studio album Get Lifted in 2004.

The album was both commercially and critically successful, winning the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. He was also nominated for Best New Artist and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. He has since released the albums Once Again (2006), Evolver (2008), and Love in the Future (2013), the latter of which spawned the international hit “All of Me“.
