Hollywood actress Emma Kenney had her career beginnings in the late 2000s. She made her debut in a short film. Her first feature film was in Bittersweet. She next acted in a few other short films, as well as in the TV movies Green Apples and Day Camp. She next landed a one-episode role in Boardwalk Empire.

In the 2010s, she became further known for her roles on television. First, she got the role of Debbie Gallagher in the Showtime series Shameless. She still plays the part up to now. In 2018, she starred as Harris Conner Healy in the ABC sitcom Roseanne, which was shortly revived after being abruptly canceled. She has also worked as a voice actress in the animated movies My Love Affair with Marriage and Epic.

She may be only 18 but the actress takes her health seriously. Also mainly because she’s an animal activist, the Shameless actress doesn’t eat meat and focuses on a plant-based diet. She eats fish only a few times and a week and it’s for medical reasons since it’s due to her anemia, which she described as “so severe”. She explained:

“I only eat fish, and the reason why is that I’m super, super anemic. I know there are other ways around it — like by eating broccoli and spinach to get iron in that way — and I tried that for years, but my anemia is so severe that it didn’t work for me. Which sucks. But, I don’t eat fish often — only a few times a week, if that.”

Nonetheless, most of her meals are vegan, even her snacks. Talking about it, she said: “I’m kind of a picky eater — I don’t like fruit, but I love vegetables. I love carrots and hummus, and also pita bread and hummus — it’s such a great source of protein. I also love Oreos — they’re my favorite cheat food and I always have them in my house.”
