Diane Kruger was born on July 15, 1976 in Algermissen, Lower Saxony, Germany. She studied ballet with the Royal Ballet in London until an injury ended her dancing career.

She returned to Germany and became a top fashion model. She later pursued acting and moved to Paris. She landed some small appearances in several French films.

One of her more high-profile roles is her portrayal of Helen of Sparta in the epic film Troy. In 2009, she received nominations from the Screen Actors Guild for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Inglourious Basterds.
