David Hyde Pierce is an American actor. He’s also a director. His acting career started in the 1980s, debuting in an episode of Spenser: For Hire in 1987. The following year, he had his first movie role in Rocket Gibraltar. His major breakthrough happened during the ’90s, starring as Dr. Niles Crane in the sitcom Frasier, a role he starred in from 1993–2004. He won the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the Primetime Emmys four times for his work here. He also starred in the films The Fisher King, Sleepless in Seattle, Wolf and Nixon. He went on to star in the comedies Wet Hot American Summer and Down with Love. In the 2010s, he had notable performances in the TV shows The Good Wife and When We Rise.
