Brendan Gleeson is an Irish actor. His film career started in the 1990s, debuting in the movie The Field. He later appeared as Hamish Campbell in the 1995 film Braveheart and portrayed Liam Tobin in Michael Collins. In the 2000s, Gleeson had performances in the films Mission: Impossible 2, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, and 28 Days Later. He then played Walter ‘Monk’ McGinn in Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York and portrayed Menelaus in Troy. After this, he played Raynald of Châtillon in Kingdom of Heaven. Gleeson became further known for his portrayal of Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody/Bartemius Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, reprising his role in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. His performance in 2008’s In Bruges earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He next portrayed Winston Churchill in the TV movie Into the Storm. From 2017 to 2019, he played Bill Hodges in Mr. Mercedes.
