Singer-songwriter and actress Billie Piper got her start as a performer during her teens. It was also around this time that she began a recording career. Her single “Because We Want To” reached atop the UK. This accomplishment made her the youngest artist in the UK to have reached Number 1. Her first album Honey to the B was then released. This was followed by her second album Walk of Life. In the mid 2000s, she decided to venture into acting. During this period, she portrayed Rose Tyler on the hit BBC series Doctor Who. She next portrayed Belle de Jour on the TV series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. More recently, she joined the main cast of the show Penny Dreadful.

The 35-year-old actress has battled with her body image for years. She once shared how she suffered from anorexia after a reported told her she was fat. Now that she’s older and wiser, she’s realized how beauty depends on the way she takes care of herself regardless of being skinny. On the other hand, being an actress, Billie still needs to transform her appearance every now and then to play certain characters. For instance, for her role in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, she was reported to have undergone drastic weight loss to play her role.

About her diet and the process that weight loss entails, she said in an interview: “The diet, the regime, it will be quite intense. It’s boring and hellish, I’m sure, but if you’ve got to bare your arse on TV, you don’t want it to look bad.” In another interview, she also said: “I was contractually obliged to do a third series and I had to get in shape quite quickly. After you have a kid… it feels like your only treat is eating. You can’t go out or dance your a**e off, so you stay at home and stuff yourself with cake.”
