Biography:

Ana Ortiz was born on January 25, 1971 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, U.S.. Originally wanting to become a ballerina, she trained in ballet for eight years until quitting due to experiencing pain from dancing en pointe. Deciding to venture into singing, she enrolled at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in NYC and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

She then got into regional theater productions where she performed in numerous plays and musicals. She eventually moved to television, landing main roles in short-lived shows like Kristin and A.U.S.A. in the early 2000s before achieving her breakthrough as Hilda Suarez in Ugly Betty. Since 2013, she has been playing the role of Marisol Suarez in Devious Maids. She has starred in the movies Labor Pains and Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son.
