Allison Williams was born on April 15, 1988 in New Canaan, Connecticut, USA. Her father is the NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams and her mother is Jane Gillan Stoddard, a TV producer.

She attended Greenwich University and graduated in 2006. She then attended Yale University and graduated in 2010 with an English degree.

Her breakthrough came in 2010 when she landed the role of Marnie Michaels in the HBO television series Girls, after performing a mashup of “Nature Boy” set to RJD2’s “A Beautiful Mine”.

The YouTube video of her performance gained much praise that Judd Appatow got convinced that she should be given a part in Girls.
