Tamzin Outhwaite was born on November 5, 1970 in Ilford, United Kingdom. She pursued acting during her teenage years, first becoming involved with the Stagestruck Theatre Company. She then attended Sylvia Young Theatre School and went on to study drama and dance in London Studio Centre. In 1998, she became known among television viewers after she began playing the part of Melanie Healy in EastEnders.
She played the said role until 2002. Afterwards, she starred in the BBC TV movie Out of Control and had a notable role in the British drama Red Cap until its finale in 2004. Subsequently, she starred in some TV dramas like Hustle, Final Demand, Walk Away and I Stumble and Frances Tuesday. She made her Hollywood debut in the direct-to-video film 7 Seconds in 2005. She also appeared in 2012’s Great Expectations.
