Bollywood star Swara Bhaskar first appeared in the 2009 film Madholal Keep Walking. The following year, she had roles in the Hindi films Guzaarish and The Untitled Kartik Krishnan Project. Her breakthrough role was as Payal Sinha Singh in the romantic drama film Tanu Weds Manu.

For her performance, she received Filmfare and International Indian Film Academy Awards nominations for Best Supporting Actress. In 2013, she starred in such films as Listen… Amaya, Aurangzeb, and Sabki Bajegi Band. She was also praised for her performance in the movie Raanjhanaa, which got her another Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

She went on to star in the films Machhli Jal Ki Rani Hai, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and X: Past Is Present. Bhaskar also reprised her role as Payal in the sequel Tanu Weds Manu Returns. She later landed starring roles in such feature films as Nil Battey Sannata, Anaarkali of Aarah, and Veere Di Wedding. On TV, the actress hosted the show Rangoli. Since 2016, she stars in the web series It’s Not That Simple. The actress also began starring in the Prime Video series Rasbhari.

Swara Bhasker stays in great shape by following a healthy diet plan, though she’s not the one who stays away from carbs. However, for her role in the film Veere Di Wedding, the actress tried the keto diet where she was required to avoid carbs and sugar.

“I was not permitted to consume sugar in the form of glucose [carbs], fructose [fruits] or even lactose [milk]. However, it wasn’t the lack of sugar that bothered me as much as the elimination of carbs,” said the actress.

To replace carbs, she ate more “salads, avocados, chicken, prawn, fish, eggs and cheese”. She surely got leaner following a high-fat, low-carb type of diet but as soon as filming for the movie wrapped up, she immediately introduced rice into her diet again.
