Suranne Jones

English actress Suranne Jones had her career beginnings in 1997, debuting in the TV series Coronation Street. She next appeared in an episode of City Central and The Grand. In the 2000s, she portrayed Karen McDonald in the British soap opera Coronation Street. Afterward, she starred in the TV movie Celebrate “Oliver!”. Her next role was as Beth in the crime drama series Vincent. In 2006, she starred as Linda Nelson in the limited drama Strictly Confidential.

She later starred in the TV film Dead Clever: The Life and Crimes of Julie Bottomley. Jones then had recurring roles in Harley Street, Unforgiven, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Five Days, and Single Father. In 2011, she played Idris in an episode of Doctor Who. Between 2011 and 2016, the actress became known for her portrayal of Sergeant Rachel Bailey in the ITV series Scott & Bailey.

Simultaneously, she had notable performances in the TV shows A Touch of Cloth, The Secret of Crickley Hall, and The Crimson Field. She went on to play the lead as Dr Gemma Foster in the BBC One series Doctor Foster. In 2015, she made her cinematic debut in the film A Christmas Star. Later in 2018, she played Claire McGory in the six-part drama Save Me. This year, she starred as Anne Lister in the television series Gentleman Jack.

After the birth of her son, the actress needed to get back into shape to play the lead in Doctor Foster. To prepare for this, she didn’t go jogging or swimming. Instead, she did planking while on the set of the show. She said she performed core exercises for 5 minutes. “I always do a plank squad [a group who do the exercise to raise money] so we were planking for charity… so I was exercising on set,” said the actress .
