Shu Qi is a Taiwanese–Hong Kong actress. She started her acting career in the 1990s, initially appearing in Hong Kong films. In 1996, she starred in the film Viva Erotica, which gained her critical praise. For this, she won Best Supporting Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards. In the following years, she established herself as one of the most well-known actress in Hong Kong. In 2002, she played the female lead in the French film The Transporter, which marked her international debut. She later had a brief role in the American movie New York, I Love You. In the 2010s, she had performances in the films The Adventurers, The Island, and Shanghai Fortress.
