Biography:

Sara Canning was born on July 14, 1987 in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada. She joined in figure skating competitions during her childhood and became interested in theatre when she was in high school.

At the age of 18, she made her acting debut in George Orwell’s 1984 at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton. She then attended University of Alberta where she studied general arts. She moved to Vancouver at age 19 to pursue acting.

Her first television appearance was in Smallville. In 2009, she gained recognition after being cast as Jenna Sommers in The Vampire Diaries, a role she played until 2012.
