Phoebe Waller-Bridge was born on July 14, 1985 in London, England. She attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where she had completed her degree. In 2009, she made her professional acting debut in the play Roaring Trade at Soho Theatre. That same year, she had her first television role in an episode of Doctors.

Her first starring role came in 2011, playing Chloe Astill in the British sitcom The Café. That same year, she also made her cinematic debut in the film Albert Nobbs.
