She later gained greater success for her roles in the movies The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink. In the ’90s, she had lead roles in the miniseries The Stand and the sitcom Townies.

At the same time, she also starred in the movies Betsy’s Wedding, Seven Sundays, Malicious, and Teaching Mrs. Tingle. In the 2000s, she mostly worked on television with roles in the TV movies The Wives He Forgot and Molly: An American Girl on the Home Front. From 2008 to 2013, she played Anne Juergens in the drama series The Secret Life of the American Teenager. After this, she had roles in the films Jem and the Holograms, King Cobra, Siberia, and The Kissing Booth. She also plays recurring character Mary Andrews in Riverdale.

Aside from practicing a clean diet plan, the former teen icon also maintains her healthy body by following a fitness routine. When asked how she maintains her fit body, she said in an interview: “For exercise, my two favorites are yoga and running. I like yoga that’s more athletic, so more Ashtanga than Iyengar.”

The actress also manages to stay fit and healthy even after giving birth to her three kids. While it’s not easy to lose weight after delivery, she’s able to because she eats healthily and follows an active lifestyle. She said: “Just dieting basically, and it wasn’t even like a really strict diet. It was more just a sensible diet, cutting down on sweets and upping the vegetables and protein, less starch, and I just worked out a lot, I’d say about three or four times a week.”
