Biography:

Matthew Davis was born on May 8, 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.. After high school, he attended University of Utah. He made his Hollywood debut as Private Jim Paxton in the movie Tigerland in 2000. That same year, he also starred in the film Urban Legends: Final Cut. In the next few years, he appeared in the movies Pearl Harbor, Legally Blonde, Blue Crush, Below, Seeing Other People, and BloodRayne.

Afterwards, he also ventured to television, joining the main cast of the show What About Brian. He went on to have a recurring role on the TV series Damages as Josh Reston. In the 2010s, he became known for his role as Alaric Saltzman on The Vampire Diaries. He reprised his role in two episodes of The Originals. He also had a short stint on the TV series Cult.
