Mary Steenburgen is an American actress. She had her career beginnings in the late 1970s. She got her breakthrough in 1980 when she starred in the film Lynda West Dummar. For her role here, she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her performance in the film Ragtime also gained her a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Ragtime. Other acclaimed performances were in the miniseries Tender is the Night and the TV movie The Attic: The Hiding of Anne Frank. In the 1990s, she starred in the movies Back to the Future Part III, Philadelphia, and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. More recently, she played Gail Klosterman in the show The Last Man on Earth.
