Hollywood star Katharine McPhee started her career as a singer. She first became known when she joined American Idol and became the runner-up for its fifth season. Soon, she released her self-titled debut album. She went on to gain recognition for her songs “Over It” and “Had It All”. Around the same time, she also started an acting career. She made her debut in an episode of the show lonelygirl15. Subsequently, she made her movie debut in the comedy The House Bunny.

In the 2010s, her acting career became more active. She had her first lead role on television, starring as Karen Cartwright in Smash. She also starred in the films You May Not Kiss the Bride, Shark Night 3D, and In My Dreams. After Smash ended in 2013, she joined the main cast of the television series Scorpion as Paige Dineen. She has since been playing the said role since 2014. She’s also starred in the TV movie The Lost Wife of Robert Durst. Last year, she released a new album (her fifth) I Fall in Love Too Easily.

The 34-year-old actress stays in shape by sticking to a healthy lifestyle. She makes sure she’s always active. Despite her crazy schedule, she also makes it a point to spend some time exercising. Talking about her fitness in an interview, she revealed: “My trainer Simon Carter is the hardest trainer I’ve ever had. He’s not a drill sergeant, but he takes it to the next level. I go three or four times a week if I can, for an hour . . . We’ll run and we’ll, like, in the middle of each intersection do 20 push-ups or 20 jump squats and then start running again . . . for four or five miles.”

She also shares that her trainer gets her to “lunge up and down hills”. This substantially helps when it comes to making her legs and glutes stronger. She went on to say: “I’ve never built muscle like I’ve built with him . . . I love it, because there’s no fuss to it . . . You just do it. It’s not for the faint of heart at all.”
