Biography:

Karl Urban was born on June 7, 1972 in Wellington, New Zealand. He left college to become an actor, which he started by acting in commercials. He soon got acting gigs on television and made his film debut in the 1992 New Zealand movie Chunuk Bair. In 2002, he made his Hollywood debut, playing the role of Munder in Ghost Ship. He went on to achieve recognition for playing Éomer in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Subsequently, he starred in mostly action films, including The Chronicles of Riddick, The Bourne Supremacy, and Doom. Further success continued in the late 2000s with his starring role as Leonard McCoy in Star Trek, a character he reprised in Star Trek Into Darkness. Films in the 2010s include And Soon the Darkness, RED, Priest, Riddick, and The Loft. He’s also known for his role as John Kennex on the TV series Almost Human.
