Julia Goldani Telles was born on March 18, 1995 in Los Angeles, California, United States. She trained in ballet at the School of American Ballet and Ballet Academy East. At a young age, she has danced in several ballet performances. She took a break from ballet when she was 15 after suffering from dancing-related medical conditions. This was where she got into acting.

In 2012, she began playing the role of Sasha Torres in Bunheads, which marked her television debut. She was part of the main cast on the show. After the series got cancelled after one season, she made guest appearances in Blue Bloods, The Carrie Diaries, and played three episodes in Nurse Jackie. As of 2014, she stars as Whitney Solloway in The Affair, which earned her further recognition.
