Biography:

Jessica Mauboy was born on August 4, 1989 in Darwin, Australia. She came to prominence in Australia after finishing as the runner-up in Australian Idol’s fourth season in 2006. Afterwards, she signed a recording deal with Sony. The following year, her debut live album The Journey came out, which became successful. She next released her debut studio album Been Waiting in 2008, generating the single “Burn”, which became her first Number 1 single.

Other singles from the album such as “Running Back” and “Because” became Top 10 hits. Her second studio album titled Get ‘Em Girls released in 2010 also spawned Top 10 hits like “Inescapable”. It then took her three years to work on her third album Beautiful, which produced the hit songs “Pop a Bottle (Fill Me Up)”, “Never Be the Same” and “Can I Get a Moment?”. She has also ventured into acting, her most notable appearances in 2010’s Bran Nue Dae and 2012’s The Sapphires.
