Eric Johnson was born on August 7, 1979 in Edmonton, Alberta. He began acting when he was nine. This was when he got enrolled in a theater company. In 1994, he played the teen version of Brad Pitt’s character in Legends of the Fall. His subsequent works were mostly independent and television films. For his performance in the Canadian TV movie Scorn, he was nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series.
He gained recognition in the early 2000s for playing the role of Whitney Fordman on Smallville. Since then, he has played notable roles on the TV shows Flash Gordon where he played the title character and Rookie Blue where he’s part of the main cast. After playing recurring roles on Orphan Black and Saving Hope, he started starring on The Knick. He will play Jack Hyde in the upcoming thriller films Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.
