Emily Rutherfurd was born on September 18, 1974 in New York City, New York, USA. She made her acting debut with Loves Me Loves Me Not, playing the role of Sandy Erickson in 1999.

That same year, she landed the recurring role of Stacy in the television series Work with Me. She has since appeared in other shows including Coupling, Will & Grace, and Up All Night, among others.

She also became known as Mary Kelly in the series Married to the Kellys. She is perhaps best recognized as Christine Hunter in the sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine.
