Biography:

Cristela Alonzo was born on January 6, 1979 in San Juan, Texas, USA. She moved to Los Angeles to become a stand-up comedian after doing some improv work back in Dallas. During her initial years, she spent time on the road performing stand-up on college shows. In 2006, she worked as a writer for the show Mind of Mencia.

Ultimately, she ventured into acting where she debuted in an episode of Sons of Anarchy in 2011. From 2014 to 2015, she gained recognition for starring in her own sitcom Cristela. She also served as the show’s creator and executive producer. As a voice actress, she played Shirley in The Angry Birds Movie and Cruz Ramirez in Cars 3.
