English actor Charlie Cox‘s acting career began in the early 2000s. During his initial period, he had roles in the films dot the i, The Merchant of Venice and Casanova. He next appeared in The Maiden’s Conspiracy and Stardust. He went on to portray Ian Hamilton in the movie Stone of Destiny. He became more active on the small screen in the 2010s. He was first noticed for his role as Owen Sleater on Boardwalk Empire. After appearing on the TV movie Legacy, he successfully auditioned for the role of Matt Murdock on the Netflix series Daredevil. The show has since been acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, earning him substantial prominence.

For his role as Matt Murdock on Daredevil, Charlie knew he needed to train more rigorously in order to play the part more efficiently. In an interview, he said: “The truth is, before I did this show, I’d never really been in shape, I never really had a gym membership, and I’d always just occasionally go for a run, that kind of stuff.” Since being a vigilante superhero means a lot of fighting scenes, the actor stepped up in order to be stronger, more flexible and agile. For him, it took extra dedication and discipline to be able to keep his fitness level high.

He said: “It was such hard work to get into shape, that when we finished the first season, just on the off-chance that we were going to do it again, I didn’t let myself completely go.” His trainer said that Charlie trained like an athlete since people train to achieve optimal movement from their body. This trainer also shared that he and Charlie does modern, sport-specific, and MMA movement. In addition, the actor works out three to six days a week. About his training schedule, the actor said: “I never do seven days [in a week], because you are supposed to rest. I tend to do five days.”
