He has had performances in the Danish films The Escape, Itsi Bitsi, and Sommeren ’92. After a couple more roles in Danish projects, he gained recognition for his portrayal of John F. Kennedy in the 2016 biographical drama film Jackie. The movie starred Natalie Portman in the lead role with Phillipson only having a screen time of about 10 minutes. Despite this, his uncanny resemblance to JFK led him to gain further attention in Hollywood.
