Thomas McDonell was born on May 2, 1986 in Manhattan, New York, U.S.. He attended New York University where he finished his degree. In 2008, he made his film debut in The Forbidden Kingdom. His next role came in the 2010 movie Twelve. That same year, he made his television debut on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He next appeared on the show Made in Hollywood.

From 2012 to 2013, he appeared as Scott Strauss on the comedy-drama series Suburgatory. He then became further known for starring as Finn Collins on the TV series The 100 in its 1-2 seasons. He’s also had roles in the features Prom, Fun Size, Life After Beth, and The Devil’s Hand.
