Ted Levine is an American actor. He had his career beginnings in the 1980s. His first starring role on TV was as Frank Holman in Crime Story. In 1986, he made his movie debut in One More Saturday Night. In 1991, he gained attention for his role as Jame “Buffalo Bill” Gumb in The Silence of the Lambs. He next had performances in such films as The Mangler, Georgia, Heat, and Wild Wild West. Later in 2000, he played Dr. Robert Banger in the short-lived series Wonderland. From 2002 to 2009, he became widely known for his role as Captain Leland Stottlemeyer in Monk. During this period, Levine starred in the films The Fast and the Furious, The Manchurian Candidate, Memoirs of a Geisha, and American Gangster. In the 2010s, he starred as Lt. Hank Wade in The Bridge. He recently played Thomas F. Byrnes in The Alienist.
