Biography:

Tanisha was born on January 1, 1978 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India. She comes from a family of actors. Her father is the late director, writer and producer Shomu Mukherjee and her mother is actress Tanuja. She is also the younger sister of the actress Kajol.

In 2003, she made her acting debut in the film Sssshhh…, playing the role of Mahek Gujral. She followed this with another film in 2004, Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao.

She made her film debut in Tamil cinema with the 2007 movie Unnale Unnale, for which she received a Vijay Award nomination for Best Debut Actress.
