Biography:

Sally Hawkins was born on April 27, 1976 in Dulwich, London, England, UK. She attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where she graduated in 1998.

In 2002, she made her first notable performance as Samantha in Mike Leigh’s film All or Nothing. Two years after, she starred as Susan in Vera Drake and as Slasher in Layer Cake.

She made her breakthrough in 2008 when she played the role of Poppy Cross in the film Happy-Go-Lucky, for which she received several awards including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actress.
