Biography:

Padma Lakshmi was born on September 1, 1970 in Madras, India. She attended Clark University in Massachusetts where she graduated with honors in Theatre Arts.

At the age of 18, she started her career when she was discovered by a modeling agent in Madrid. She has since modeled for such designers as Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Ralph Lauren and Alberta Ferretti. She has also been featured in advertising campaigns for Roberto Cavalli and Versus.

She ventured into acting appearing in films, including Glitter, Boom and The Mistress of Spices. As of 2006, she hosts the cooking reality show Top Chef.
