Maria Thayer was born on October 30, 1975 in Boring, Oregon, U.S. In 1999, she made her screen debut with her recurring role of Tammi Littlenut in the television series Strangers with Candy.

She followed this with several other roles in such shows as Big Apple, The Education of Max Bickford, Miss Match, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Comedy Lab.

She then became known for her supporting roles in major films, including the role of Lisa in Hitch, Rory Thayer in Accepted, Wyoma in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Sonia Baker in State of Play and Beth in Let Go.
