Biography:

Lisa Ray was born on April 4, 1972 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At the age of 16, she began modeling after she was discovered while vacationing in India.

In 2001, she made her Indian film debut with the movie Kasoor. Her work in the film caught the attention of director Deepa Mehta and later cast her in his 2002 film Bollywood/Hollywood.

To pursue acting more seriously, she went to London where she attended the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts and graduated with a post-graduate degree in acting.

She then went on to star in Deepa Mehta’s 2005 Oscar-nominated film Water.
