Hiroyuki Sanada is a Japanese actor whose career started in the late 1960s. He first established his career in his native Japan. He ultimately became known internationally for his work in Hollywood, beginning with 2003’s The Last Samurai. This opened the door for more international projects, including The White Countess, Sunshine, Speed Racer, and Rush Hour 3. In the 2010s, he played Shingen Yashida in The Wolverine and Takashi Nagase in The Railway Man. He recently had supporting roles in Life and The Catcher Was a Spy. He’ll star in the upcoming films Avengers: Endgame and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. On TV, he’s had recurring roles in Lost, Revenge, The Last Ship, and Westworld. He also starred in Extant as Hideki Yasumoto and Helix as Dr. Hiroshi Hatake.
