Gemma Atkinson was born on November 16, 1984 in Bury, Greater Manchester, England. She came to prominence as a result of her portrayal of Lisa Hunter in the teenage soap opera Hollyoaks.

She subsequently starred in the spin-off series Hollyoaks: Let Loose, followed by Hollyoaks: In the City. She then made her debut video game appearance in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, playing the role of Lt. Eva McKenna.

She reprised her role in Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising. Her film work includes Boogie Woogie, 13Hrs, How to Stop Being a Loser, Airborne, and Fever.
