Catherine O’Hara is a Canadian-American actress. She first gained recognition for starring in the Canadian sitcom Coming Up Rosie during the 1970s. She next starred in the sketch comedy show Second City Television. She also worked as a writer on the show, which got her the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series in 1981. Later in 1988, she starred in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice. In the ’90s, she starred as Kate McCallister in Home Alone and its sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. She was also the voice of Sally/Shock in The Nightmare Before Christmas. She then starred in the mockumentary film Waiting for Guffman. The actress received praise for her performance in the 1999 crime drama film The Life Before This. In the 2010s, O’Hara played Aunt Ann in Temple Grandin, winning her the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress. From 2015 to 2020, she was also widely known for her role as Moira Rose in the sitcom Schitt’s Creek.
