Biography:

Ameesha Patel was born on June 9, 1975 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India. She attended Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts where she studied economics. Before becoming an actress, she worked as an economic analyst at Khandwala Securities Limited.

She then returned to India where she joined Satyadev Dubey theatre group where she acted in stage plays. Her big screen debut was in the 2000 blockbuster Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai.

The following year, she starred in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha where she received critical praise for her performance, earning her a Filmfare Special Performance Award.
